Why does the code go to the contact on file and not to me?
Because that is what proves ownership. Anyone can copy a name, an NPI and an address off a public registry; only the business can read its own inbox or answer its own phone. The code goes to (765) ***-4300, and the person who can read it is the person who can claim.
Nobody here can reach that inbox or phone. What then?
Reply to any of our emails — the reminder we send twelve hours in, for instance — and a person verifies you another way, usually the same business day. If the address on file is out of date, that is also how we fix it.
